Close-up magic is magic performed in close-proximity to the audience (and would usually not be visible from a distance). It is usually performed with objects like cards, coins, handkerchiefs etc. By definition it is not performed on stage.
Usually in the region of 1 to 2 hours depending, mainly, on the number of guests at the event. I would usually recommend 1.5 hours for less than 100 guests, and 2 hours if more.
All my magic has been curated to appeal to an adult audience. However, none of it contains blue humour or any adult themes and so can be seen by people of all ages. At any event, I always have a few tricks that I can show to children.
Pretty much. The only location which is tricky is outdoors since the rain and wind can make performing outside very difficult.
You can enquire about a booking tomorrow or in three years’time and I can tell you if I’m free or not. August and December are my busiest months and hence it’s advisable tobook several months in advance for a date at those times.
Yes. For a magic show, any size is possible. For mix & mingle magic, I would suggest no more than 200 people. For larger guest numbers I would suggest more than one magician, which I can arrange.
For mix & mingle magic, no setup is required. Within 5 minutes of arrival I can start entertaining. A magic show will till a little longer to set up and will also depend on whether voice amplification is required.
With mix & mingle magic, I approach individuals and small groups of people and perform a few minutes of magic. I then move on to the next group and circulate in that way amongst all the guests. The magic light-hearted and entertaining and a fun topic of conversation, even when I’ve moved on.
All magicians have a different style. Mine is this: I’m personable, with an emphasis on skilful sleight-of-hand rather than the latest gizmo. My preference is for classic magic over fashionable magic.
Mix & mingle close-up magic acts as a common topic of conversation. It acts as an ice-breaker and it can bring people together who didn’t already know each other.
Yes. There are two scenarios where this is most appropriate. First, when a company is attending a trade show – I can perform at your stand to attract an audience and use company-themed tricks. Second, when performing a magic show at your event I can incorporate stage tricks that display your branding, event theme, logo, motto etc.
No extra space is required to accommodate my performance. I blend seamlessly with your guests.
Yes. I can perform at any social event where guests are either standing and mingling or seated at tables and dining.
I default to a smart-casual style, always with a jacket. However, I will always ask if the event has a dress code and conform with that if appropriate.

Yes. You can book me for mix & mingle, a show, performing at a trade show stand, and even a “magic booth” option. Any combination of these is also possible. If you want a show with a certain theme, this can also be created.
I have a lot of experience dealing with large crowds when performing a show. In the case of mix & mingle magic, I am only ever performing to small numbers of people at any one time. So, a large crowd of people isn’t relevant in that scenario.
Yes. Within reason I’m willing to bespoke a performance to whatever is required in the specific circumstances. Shows can be lengthened, shortened, inclined to contain a certain kind of material (e.g. mind-reading routines), made to be more formal, informal etc.

Yes, and I have public liability insurance up to £10m and a copy of my insurance certificate can be provided on request.
These tend to be high-end private parties where the host has delegated the proceedings. However, any event, be it private or corporate, may wish to use an entertainment agent.
Yes. I’m reliable, discreet and professional.
I am happy to travel any distance for any booking as long as the travel costs (and possibly accommodation costs) are covered in my fee.

A typical cruise ship magic show lasts around 45 minutes. In my experience, this is the sweet spot, especially if we have two different shows during the cruise.
Yes. Not only do I offer stage shows for the after dinner entertainment, but I also offer mix & mingle magic for the lounges and bars in addition to a lecture on the history of close-up magic.
I have four unique 45 minute stage shows from which to choose. This is in addition to my lecture and the many hours of mix & mingle magic that I can perform at the lounges and bars.
